How to shop online in Iraq safely with cash on delivery, a complete guide

Shopping online in Iraq is easier than ever, but it helps to know how to pick the right store. These are general tips that work with any store, and after each tip, how we do it at Shahein. At the end, a comparison of some of our products at today’s prices.

1. Make sure the price is final with delivery

• Some stores show a low price, then add delivery or other fees at the door.
• Ask before you order: is this the amount I pay the courier?

At Shahein: delivery is free to all 19 governorates of Iraq, and the price on the page is the final amount, with no extra fees.

2. Prefer cash on delivery

• Do not send money in advance to a store you do not know, and do not give your card number.
• Paying the courier in cash means you only pay when the order is in your hands.

At Shahein: cash on delivery only. We never ask for advance payment or bank card details.

3. The store should call to confirm

• A serious store calls you to confirm the product, quantity and address before shipping.
• Write your phone number correctly and answer the call so your order is not delayed.

At Shahein: we call you within 24 hours on the number you gave, and after confirmation your order arrives in 24 to 48 hours.

4. Know the return policy before you order

• Check how many days you have to return a product and who pays for the return.
• If a store has no written return policy, think twice.

At Shahein: you have a 30-day return guarantee from delivery, and the return is free even if you changed your mind. Details are on the returns policy page, linked at the bottom of every page.

5. Check your order when it arrives

• Make sure the parcel is sealed.
• Check the product is what you ordered, in the same colour and quantity.
• If something is wrong, do not accept the parcel and call the store.

6. Keep your order number

• The order number makes any question or return easy later.

At Shahein: your order number shows on the thank you page after you send your order. Take a photo or write it down.

7. Watch out for fake timers and crossed out prices

• A timer that ends “in minutes” and restarts every time you open the page is only there to rush you.
• A crossed out old price the product was never sold at makes a discount look real when it is not.

At Shahein: we never use fake timers or fake old prices. The price is clear and the same everywhere.
