There are two main types. A handheld steam cleaner with a hose and brushes is for the kitchen, bathroom, windows and car: it reaches tight corners and softens the grease built up on the cooker and hood. A steam mop on a long handle is for tile and ceramic floors: it cleans a whole floor quickly without bending, and most models come with extra heads that turn them into a handheld unit.
If your problem is old yellow grease on the hood and burners, choose a high pressure steam cleaner with a large tank, because higher pressure means stronger steam and one heating cycle covers most of the kitchen.
